Cable Beach is Nassau's most well-known beach and, in my opinion, the best option for most visitors. It stretches nearly 2 miles of white sand with calm turquoise water and easy access from downtown.

When multiple cruise ships are in port at once, Cable Beach can get pretty crowded between 10 AM and 3 PM. My advice: arrive before 9 or after 4.

Love Beach is my personal favorite for travelers who want something quiet. It sits on the west end of Nassau, well off the main tourist circuit — which means it's almost never crowded. The water is crystal clear and the snorkeling right off the shore is excellent.

There aren't many amenities here — bring water and sunscreen. But if you want a beach that feels private without needing a boat, Love Beach is your answer.

Cabbage Beach is on Paradise Island, just north of the bridge from Nassau. It's one of the most beautiful beaches in the area: fine white sand, gentle waves, and water that's an almost unreal shade of blue.

Access is public, though part of the beach fronts the Atlantis resort. Head straight to the eastern section (right when facing the water) for more space and fewer vendors.

The original Jaws movie was filmed here in 1974. That piece of trivia aside, Jaws Beach is simply a solid local beach: clear water, not many people on weekdays, and a totally laid-back vibe.

Weekends can pick up with local families. Go on a weekday and you may well have the whole place to yourself.

Rose Island is an uninhabited island 20 minutes by boat from the port. No resort, no taxi, no crowds. Just white sand, crystal-clear water, and silence.

This is the main stop on my boat tours. The water around Rose Island has some of the most stunning colors in the entire region. If you have just one day in Nassau and want truly spectacular water, this is where you need to be.
